The Hotel
Caruso is a hotel which combines the elegant atmosphere of a splendid
villa in the turn-of-the-century style with the modern flair of an
up-to-date hotel. Located
close to the center of the spa town in an elegant and quiet residential
district, in the middle of a large estate. The various
recreational facilities of the thermal springs at the Wellness Center and
Kurhaus Baden are within easy reach.
Next to Vienna, centrally situated in
beautiful vineyards, lies the traditional health-resort Baden. Hundreds of
years ago, many personages from all over the world came to Baden to relieve
their health-troubles with the help of sulphur bath. And so did the famous
tenor Enrico Caruso, who came to Baden in
the beginning of 1913 because of severe back aches after eating. He staid in
the splendid villa of one of the richest woman Vienna’s, Ida
Gutmann-Wodianer. The house was redesigned and extended to an elitist conference
hotel. The restaurant got the name Caruso, because the rumour that
the tenor staid one night in the villa is believed till today.
Spa gardens, Casino, horse-trotting races,
golf courses, excursions through the Vienna Woods and vineyards, theatre and
operetta performances, art openings. These are only a few of the attractions
of this beautiful town "Baden".
